Cici Fischer

Do you remember Cici Fischer? She is a little girl who so touched my heart with her strength and resilience. Cici is almost the same age as Peyton. When she was 11 months old, she choked on a piece of canned fruit and spent 2 weeks in PICU. Parts of her brain died from lack of oxygen and she is now severely disabled. She has a twin sister Penny and a big brother Max and two wonderful parents who love her and dote on her endlessly. You can read more about their story on the Fischer Family blog here. This is also a wonderful video of sweet Cici laughing and smiling.

Cici's auction is a way to help the Fischer Family with the treatments that Cici needs - most are NOT covered by their insurance. Etsy sellers have gathered together to help raise money to help Cici. For this spring auction, I've decided to do something different. I wanted to make something that might generate more money than my headbands. So I made this:

"Roses for Cici" - a fabric rosette necklace

I had to learn how to make these fabulous fabric rosettes that I often drool over on Etsy and it took a long time to perfect. This necklace will unfortunately not be available at the shop. It will only be up for grabs at the auction. So please mark your calendars and get ready to start bidding on March 14, 2010. If you want to donate something for the auction, please contact Meg Rothstein at meg@bidsforcici.org

There are also two special items that I created for Cici on Etsy. One is a special headband and the other, a special hair clip. 50% of the proceeds will go directly to Cici's fund. Check them out here and here.
